Who may join The Good News Club?
The Good News Club is a non-profit company (NPC) and public benefit organisation (PBO) that was started in 2021 by a group of Langenhoven Park residents who wanted to positively and  holistically impact the appearance and safety of our neighbourhood. The group aims to be inclusive of everyone who lives or works in Langenhoven Park and wants to see our suburb remain clean, safe, and beautiful.
How can I get involved?
Financial contribution

If you wish to contribute financially, you are encouraged to complete the online membership form – click on the link above and complete the online form - It will take 1 minute. This will allow us to continue and expand our cleaning and improvement projects in Langenhoven Park. Donations by individuals and businesses are tax-deductible, as we are a registered NPC and PBO.

Contribution of time and resources

If you would like to volunteer your time or other resources, please also complete the online membership form and provide more details about how you can assist us.

How are our projects funded?
All our projects are sponsored by local residents and businesses. A PBO ensures that individuals and businesses receive tax benefits on donations that have been made. Our PBO status also ensures that the group’s finances are audited and published, and that financial management is transparent.
What are donations spent on?

Funds donated to TGNC are used exclusively for the improvement of Langenhoven Park, as well as to pay the salaries of our two full-time workers. In partnership with local companies and funders, and when skilled helpers are available, The Good News Club also partakes in road maintenance projects, including the repair of potholes and the painting of road markings in some of Langenhoven Park's busier streets.

Specific areas which The Good News Club tries to maintain on a regular basis include:

  • The grounds of the public library in Boerneef Street;
  • The area around the Post Office postboxes in Dirk Opperman Street;
  • Various public parks, with a specific focus on the park on the corner of Totius and Henriette Grove, and the Mikro/Dirk Opperman Street park.
  • Other areas in Langenhoven Park where short-term cleaning or improvement projects have been identified. You will notice our workers in their distinctive green overalls and pink bibs!

We hope to expand the reach of this project as more and more local businesses and residents become involved. All of the equipment used by our workers has been donated by local businesses and residents, and all our committee members and directors give of their time and skills on a voluntary basis. All donations are tax-deductible, and audited financial statements and an annual report ensure accountability.

General Information

I have complaints about issues in Langenhoven Park. Who do I contact?

Isn't the upkeep of Langenhoven Park's open spaces the Municipality's job?
The Good News Club has no affiliations with any political or pressure groups. Please direct any complaints, safety or service delivery-related queries to one of the numerous other groups whose goal is to deal with such issues.
Yes, it is. However, those of us who live or work in Langenhoven Park want to have a pleasant and attractive suburb. If we rely on the Municipality to repair and maintain everything, our immediate environment may worsen considerably while we wait. We hope for the Municipality to take over the full responsibility of all maintenance work in  the future. In the interim, we are working together to do what we can.
What is the goal?
Our goal is to have the whole of Langenhoven Park looking neat, tidy, and beautiful on a permanent basis one day – and your help will assist us in attaining this ambitious goal.

We encourage Langenhoven Park residents and businesses to work together to improve the appearance and functioning of our suburb by making contributions to this NPC.

If you are willing to contribute towards improving the  area, alongside other people from different walks of life, you can make a difference.  Streets, townhouse complexes, shoppincentres, businesses and families are all encouraged to get involved.

It's not our job, but it is our suburb!
